The KA office turns into a wondrous place on Halloween. This year lived up to last year’s inaugural KA Halloween festivities.
It’s not Halloween at KA unless we have a gorilla, and this year, Matt Faus made the perfect complementary banana.
Dylan and Tabitha held true to our learning roots. Dylan used one of KA’s art lessons to learn about Jackson Pollock’s painting techniques to turn himself into a Pollock-esque masterpiece. He is pictured below with Tabitha, who inspired us as the Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena.
Our KA site also inspired a few costumes. Pamela dressed up as the famed Winston from our computer programming platform, Steph dressed up as our login homepage “Start learning now!”, and Ben Alpert came with an animated iPad representing KA’s “LOADING” page of blue squares. One of the most impressive costumes was Kyle’s. As a blackboard with our logo handtree on it, Kyle was often mistaken for being the backdrop (yes, that’s his head in the center of the handtree), but we all recognized his costume as one of the standouts.
Joel took home the award for Most Transformed, as the legendary Gene Simmons, lead singer of KISS. He even transformed his tongue for the occasion. He definitely raised the bar from last year’s already impressive Ironman costume.
The annual highlight of the party was the fashion show, where we each embodied our characters to the best of our abilities as we walked down the runway, and all had a good laugh.
Our sentiments were summed up nicely in this tweet.
I love looking around the office on Halloween. The world is a happier place when I’m surrounded by cats, gorillas, bananas, and rock stars.

Oh, and if you were feeling like playing some games, you could also play tetris with Leah or number munchers with kamens. Yep, that’s right - the pieces actually move!
P.S. Thanks to Tabitha for the photos!
